Accessible home automation · Melbourne
Licensed electrical installation and technical implementation for plan-managed and self-managed NDIS participants, private clients and approved referral pathways—working with participants, families, OTs, AT advisers, providers and builders.
Important: Carbon Group Electrical is not a registered NDIS provider. Under current rules, plan-managed and self-managed participants can usually engage registered or unregistered providers, depending on the support and plan. Carbon provides electrical and technical services—not occupational therapy, clinical advice, funding approval or independent advocacy.
What we implement
The final equipment and control method must suit the assessed outcome, the property and the support available after handover. We do not substitute a prescribed augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) or environmental control device with a consumer smart-home product.
Reachable switches, supported buttons, app or voice control, selected scenes and electrical alterations within the agreed scope.
Electrical interfaces for suitable door operators, activation devices, locks, intercoms and access equipment, coordinated with the relevant suppliers and assessor.
Supported motor and control interfaces selected around reach, visibility, routine and safe manual operation.
Supported controls and accessible interfaces where the equipment, recommendation and approved scope allow.
The control method is selected with the participant and adviser. A familiar physical option remains available where practical.
System records, training, agreed support and a clear pathway for faults, equipment changes and future modifications.
Door and access automation
Home Assistant may provide convenient scenes or a dashboard over supported equipment. It is not the underlying layer that makes an essential door open, sends a call for help or operates another safety-critical function.
Funding and approval pathways
We can prepare a technical assessment and itemised electrical scope for the contracting party. Funding amounts and universal project thresholds are not quoted here because current public guidance conflicts and each pathway has different approval and invoicing rules.
Carbon can quote eligible electrical, door-automation or environmental-control implementation where it aligns with the participant's plan, evidence and required approval. The plan manager or participant should confirm funding and the applicable support before work starts.
TAC publishes home automation as a possible home modification where it is clinically required because of transport injuries and approved through the case pathway. Carbon confirms the contracting and payment arrangement for each project before proceeding.
Where a registered provider and prescribed support plan approve electrical or control work, Carbon can discuss implementation as a contractor or associated provider. This is not a claim that Carbon directly accepts Support at Home funding.
WorkSafe, SWEP, DVA, CHSP, SDA, private and builder-led projects follow different rules. Carbon only proceeds after the relevant party confirms the written scope, authorisation and payment pathway.
Who can contact us
Explain the outcome you want and who is helping with decisions or funding.
Send the functional recommendation or request technical input before finalising a scope.
Request an itemised implementation quote with roles, assumptions and handover needs made clear.
Coordinate electrical, door, network, backup and control interfaces before construction milestones are missed.
Project process
We identify who is enquiring, the preferred communication method, the functional outcome and who can approve the work.
Available recommendations, drawings and equipment are reviewed before or during the technical site assessment.
Equipment, electrical labour, programming, commissioning, training, exclusions and payment stages are separated.
The agreed system is commissioned, fallback is explained and applicable electrical documentation is supplied.
Common questions
No. Carbon is an unregistered provider. Under current rules, plan-managed and self-managed participants can usually use registered or unregistered providers, depending on the support and plan. NDIA-managed participants should confirm whether the proposed support must be delivered by a registered provider before engaging Carbon.
Many funded supports require appropriate evidence or a recommendation. Carbon can provide technical input and an itemised installation quote, but the clinical or functional recommendation remains with the qualified assessor.
TAC states that necessary home automation modifications may be considered where they are required because of transport injuries, clinically increase independence and are approved through the TAC pathway. Approval and contracting arrangements are confirmed for each project.
Carbon does not currently claim direct acceptance of Support at Home funding. We can discuss approved electrical implementation with a registered provider where the work is included in the person's support plan and the provider confirms the arrangement.
It may provide a convenience interface over suitable equipment, but it is not used as the underlying safety or access-critical layer. Essential functions require supported hardware, manual fallback and a documented service pathway.
Send the functional outcome, suburb, property type, who is making the enquiry, preferred communication method, relevant recommendation or drawings if available, and the quote deadline. Please do not send a diagnosis or unnecessary medical history through this form.
Technical enquiry
Describe the functional outcome and project stage. Do not include diagnoses or unnecessary health information.
