EV charger being installed in a Melbourne garage

What a good install looks like

Concealed cable runs through the wall cavity or roof space, a dedicated RCBO on the switchboard, weather-rated housing on exterior installs, and a neat final finish. No visible conduit snaking down brickwork.

We commission on-site, pair the charger to your phone app, and show you how to schedule off-peak charging before we leave.

Real questions we get

How much does an EV home charger install cost in Melbourne?

Most Melbourne 7kW single-phase installs sit between $1,450 and $2,400 supply-and-install. Price depends on cable distance, switchboard condition, and whether an RCBO or load-management device is needed. We give you a flat quote on-site before any work starts.

Do I need 3-phase power for a home EV charger?

Not necessarily. 7kW single-phase chargers cover 95% of Melbourne homes and give about 40km of range per hour of charging — plenty for overnight. 22kW 3-phase is only needed if you drive long distances daily or already have 3-phase to the house.

Can you install a Tesla Wall Connector?

Yes — we install Tesla Wall Connectors for Model 3, Model Y, Model S and Model X across Melbourne. We're Clean Energy Council approved and comply with Tesla's install guidelines.

Do I need an electrician or can I self-install?

It's illegal to self-install a hardwired EV charger in Australia. All hardwired chargers must be installed and certified by a licensed A-grade electrician (that's us — A627216) under AS/NZS 3000.

Is there a government rebate for EV chargers in Victoria?

Victoria's Zero Emissions Vehicle Subsidy ended in 2023, but some energy retailers (AGL, Energy Australia, Origin) still offer discounted charger packages or off-peak tariff plans. Ask us on-site and we'll check current offers.

How long does an EV charger installation take?

A straightforward single-phase install takes 3–4 hours. 3-phase or long-cable-run jobs can take 5–6 hours. We work weekends at no extra charge.
