What we install — and what we don't

We install hardware, cabling and networking for CCTV cameras under our electrician licence (REC 35801). We don't do alarm monitoring, guard response or access control — that's a separate security licence. If you need those services, we'll refer you to a licensed partner.

Real questions we get

How much does CCTV installation cost in Melbourne?

A full 4-camera 4K system installed starts around $1,850. 6-camera systems from $2,950. Price depends on cable-run difficulty, ceiling access, and hardware tier.

Can I view the cameras on my phone?

Yes — every system includes setup of the manufacturer's remote viewing app (Hikvision iVMS, Dahua DMSS, Reolink) with motion-zone alerts. Works on iOS and Android.

Do you do monitored alarms too?

No — we install CCTV hardware and cabling under our electrician licence only. For monitored alarms, guard response or 24/7 monitoring you need a company with a Victorian Private Security Registry licence. We can refer you to one.

How long do the recordings last?

Standard system records 30+ days onto the local NVR hard drive, looping oldest first. Cloud backup available as an optional add-on.

Can cameras read licence plates at night?

Yes, with the right placement. We use 4K cameras with colour night vision for driveways and parking areas — they capture number plates under street lighting.

Do I need an electrician to install CCTV?

For mains-powered NVRs and any new power outlets, yes. Using a licensed A-grade electrician means the install is properly fused, RCD-protected, and code-compliant.
